The 2018 China Arbitration Summit (2018 Summit), co-hosted by the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China (SPC), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), will be held in Beijing on September 17, 2018. As the most important event of the China Arbitration Week, the China Arbitration Summit has become one of the most influential gatherings in the field of international commercial arbitration.

Representatives of major international arbitral institutions, judges, arbitrators, lawyers, in-house counsels and other leading figures in the field of arbitration will be present to discuss the trends and social concerns in domestic and international arbitration development. To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the New York Convention, the 2018 Summit presents an ideal opportunity to examine the most significant issues in domestic and international arbitration, to establish key contacts and to foster the spirit of international cooperation for arbitration community.

The 2018 Summit lasts for one day with simultaneous interpretation provided.

How to get there?

Taxi The fare from the airport to the conference venue is about USD 20-25, or RMB 130-150 Yuan including the highway fee of USD 1 or RMB 5 Yuan/car. Please do ask for a receipt from the driver. Payment should be made in RMB cash. You can use the ATM or Currence Exchange offices at the airport to get change. It is not customary to tip drivers. Please pay strictly according to the meter in the taxi.

Airport Shuttle Bus From 7:20am – 10:00pm, you can take Airport Shuttle Bus Line 13 to get to the Beijing Hotel. Get up at the Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 1/2/3 station, and get off at Wang Fujing, it will cost about 4 USD, or RMB 24 Yuan. Buses depart every 40 minutes or when fully seated.

Airport Express Railway Railway and subway is very convenient in Beijing and there are several lines. The subway ticket costs 29 RMB (25 RMB for the airport line, and 4 RMB for the others). Participants can take airport express railway to stop at Dongzhimen Station and transfer to Line 2 to stop at Jianguomen Station, then transfer to Line 1 to get to Wangfujing Station. Due to the heavy traffic jam during morning and evening rush hours, we strongly recommend you to take Beijing Subway.

USEFUL INFORMATION

  • Currency Exchange

    The currency in circulation in China is the Chinese yuan, or RMB yuan, which is not a freely convertible currency. There are also certain rules on restriction of foreign exchange which should be available in the information of Chinese Customs on entry and exit. The international standard abbreviation sign of RMB Yuan is CNY. 1 CNY consists of 10 Jiao (dimes) or 100 Fen (cents). The denominations of the Chinese yuan in bank notes are 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100. Participants can exchange major free convertible foreign currencies for RMB yuan at the airports, major hotels and banks in China. Currently, 1 USD can be exchanged for about 6.8 CNY.

  • Weather

    September is mild and it's the best season in Beijing. The average temperature in September is 20°C The average highest temperature is 26°C and the average lowest temperature is 15°C.

    Cell Phones

    Participants are kindly requested to turn off their cell phones or keep the cell phones in vibration state when entering the meeting rooms and in the poster areas.

  • Insurance

    The Forum Organizers recommends participants to possess travel, property, medical or other necessary insurances before coming to China. The First CIETAC Global Arbitrators Forum Organizers cannot be held responsible for the costs resulting from personal accidents or property loss during the Forum.

    Major credit cards are acceptable in the conference hotels (and other hotels) and in most department stores. ATMs of major banks are widely spread all over the major cities and can be used in drawing RMB yuan with your credit card/debit card. Please check with your bank as to the bank charges.

VISA APPLICATION

Attendees from other countries are required to obtain a visa to enter the People's Republic of China. No visa is required for ordinary passport holders from Singapore, Brunei and Japan to visit China for up to 15 days for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends or transit.

Attendees can apply for a tourist visa through a travel agency or directly at the nearest Chinese embassy. If attendees apply for a tourist visa, which will be the best visa type to obtain as long the registrant does not have plans for conducting extensive business other than attending the conference and sightseeing, an official visa invitation letter will not be needed from China Arbitration Summit 2018.
